Event photography is our passion.
We cover personal events (parties, reunions, informal get togethers - Sorry, no weddings!) and events for non-profit organizations. At this time we only do events held in Bloomington/Normal.
Marching Bands
We specialize in Marching Bands. If you would like your band photographed at a competition or rehearsal, whole band photos, individual photos or whatever you are interested in. A consultation is necessary in order to accurately estimate the cost. Contact me by clicking on the 'Contact Me' link at the bottom of the page and we can discuss your needs.
Personal Events
Here is what our service includes.
We would meet prior to your event so that I can determine what your needs are, if you have a 'wish' list of shots you like and to scout the location where your event will be held. We would set the date/time of your event and when I would start/stop.
I charge $65 and hour with a 2 hour minimum, each additional hour is another $40). The first hour is pre-paid before the event and the second hour plus extra hours will be billed.
At your event, I will roam and snap candid shots in an unobtrusive way, capturing the moments as they unfold. I will also take any group or portrait shots that we discussed in our first meeting.
Once the remaining portion of you bill has been resolved I will place your photos on this website in a personal gallery for you and your friends and family to view and order. The prints will come to you through the mail!
Why should you use my print service, you may be asking yourself. The answer to this is that my print service is though Smugmug and they guarantee their work. Their guarantee: "If you are unhappy with your prints or gifts, Smugmug will reprint or refund your order, whichever you prefer. Just email help@smugmug.com within 30 days of receiving your order. "
Additional products such as books and DVD slideshows are also available for an additional fee, just ask about them.

Does your non-profit or charitable organization need money?
Then selling photographs of your event is a way to get it.
If you are producing a play or holding a sporting event or having a concert what better way to raise money than to sell photos of the event. For non-profit organizations (such as Unit 5 schools or theatre groups) I will photograph your event and provide you with your photos on CD or DVD. You can then sell prints from the CD/DVD or make buttons or sell the whole thing. That is up to you.
Here is what I need to cover your event:
| • I need a name/email/phone number of the person I am to coordinate with. A liaison I guess you’d say. |
| • If your event has a 'dress rehearsal' let me know when your first or second dress rehearsal will be. If I shoot a dress rehearsal then your photos should be ready for you to sell during your event. Please make your director aware that I will be there. |
| • If you want head shots to use for button sales (or any other product sale) I can do that but will need a couple things: |
| 1. First I will need a space let’s call 6 foot by 6 foot, to set up my lights. (I’ll furnish my own power.) An area not in the way but near by. |
| 2. Second I will need a list of cast/event member names to ensure I get every one. |
| 3. Lastly and most importantly the director needs to instruct the cast that they are to get photographed. |
| • If you want a cast/group photo the director/event manager will need to place the cast in whatever fashion they want on stage/place. |
| • If I shoot the event during the dress rehearsal I can try to accommodate any special requests. |
After the shoot is over I’d estimate that it will take me two days to process the photos and burn them to a CD or DVD, if you’d prefer. (I can put them into a slideshow if you’d like.) I will then get them to the liaison. If you need a waiver form from me in order to produce your projects just let me know.
In return for these services:
1) I will have placed one image on the CD that is an ad for Music Man5 Photos, please leave it there.
2) In your program could you say “Photography by Mark Coons / Music Man5 Photos” and list my website address (http://www.musicman5photos.com/). Or I can provide your publicity person with a formal ad for your program.
3) My 'event fee' (normally $65 an hour) maybe charged depending upon the organization or may be donated back to the group. We can discuss this as it is negotiable.
My website will have an album containing all your photos but they will not be for sale while your event is going on. Only after your event has completed will these photos be made available for sale. If you’d like I can list your sale information in the album telling your patrons how they can purchase your products during your event.
